Pentel Graphgear 1000 MechanIcal Pencil Set 0.5mm - Pencil, leads and refill erasers

$26.33 CAD

The Pentel GraphGear 1000 mechanical pencil is a superior drafting pencil for architects, draftsmen, artists and enthusiasts. The 4mm tip design makes it ideal for use with rulers and templates. A unique, dual-action retractor advances and retracts the pencil tip to protect lead from breaking. The built-in lead hardness indicator allows you to easily identify your lead type. It comes pre-loaded with Stein HB lead, which never needs sharpening and produces a clear dark line. The finely chiseled metallic grip inlaid with soft, rubber pads makes extended writing and drawing comfortable. .

drawing pencil

So, I use this thing for drawing and against a straight edge. I love the retractable tip, and the knurling. It is portable, and I love having replaceable erasers, and the tip unit doesn't wiggle around when I am trying to work.

I'm on the fence about the soft nubs, but... I've been using leadholders with aggressive knurling for a long time, so it's just a different feel that I am still getting used to . On the other hand, it tends to chew up other pens in my pocket less than a leadholder does, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It isn't a negative. It's just a different flavour.

I've been buying these every few years for over 20 years

I've been buying these every few years for over 20 years. I didn't know how many I've owned. I've only l lost two or three, all the rest were each stolen, either straight from my desk or from my work bag, depending on my job at the time. One survived getting run over in a parking garage with only the eraser cap getting damaged.
